techno-warmth...

the weather at night is reminding me of J. i am sitting under my down comforter and I almost forgot that I don't have to go pull out my kerosene heater and fill it up. no CO^2 poisoning for me! no fumes! ladies and gentlemen, we have insulation! i must say that I have really adjusted to colder weather. QT, circa 2002, would have been freezing with coats on at this point. now, I am cold at night but I managed to not put a coat on yet...that will stop soon...like tomorrow*

For now, the next best thing next to a yutampo [hot-water bottle/container that you put in bed] is a laptop placed right where I plan on sleeping.

aahh...the joys of modern technology!

and more...

i need a person or people in my life that will fund my current endeavours. since the wonderful age of 18, i have managed to find people/groups/organizations/institutions to pay for the things I wanted to do. it's a nice set-up. everyone should try it.

i plan on doing what I want to do regardless of the external funding...but oh, how life would be a smidge easier if I were independently wealthy.

In the midst of chaos...

This is probably a more realistic view of the riots in Toledo.

study, study, study

Now how am I supposed to procrastinate all day, then study late at night with my neighbor having an all-night salsa fiesta next door?! What is a procrastantor to do? a) go to bed? or b) go to bed?

I think I'll go with choice a). My aim is to get at least 5 hours of direct studying in tomorrow. The method I have been using thus far, diffusion through a semi-permeable membrane, hasn't worked yet. Somehow carry my books around with me, with hopes that I would review the info by osmosis, hasnt been a great move for learning more about environmemntal risk analysis
why am I up at 452am?! i must have reverted back to J-time or something. this is NOT cool.

anger management tour...

i had my chance to hang out with some "ol' folx" this weekend...LOL...they're not really old, but why not use this time to point out their "senior"ity?! I had a nice time and I got a wonderful dosage of culture*. it was miami carnival weekend too, so there were much festivities to choose from. my father and his friends basically rolled like how my peers hang out and party sometimes....night after night...Friday night, out til 3AM...Saturday night, out til after 12AM...and yet another event on Sunday.

in addition to the fact that my family (and friends) do not look our ages, i think it is wonderful that society doesn't govern how we should "be" just b/c we (they, really) are 50+. being the only younger person in a group of older people had it's rewards. words of wisdom ( don't marry a west indian man ) and insight ( the women act like they just discovered they had breasts ) flowed in and out of the conversation all weekend long.

by the end of the weekend, my flagged had been waved...i followed the iron...jump upped...and all the other things required when going from fete to fete. all-in-all, a great weekend!

*for some reason, (i believe) my father thinks that i live in a bubble devoid of west indian culture. i don't even know how much he really believes it, but I am the "international traveler" of the family and make attempts to stay connected to my ancestry.

The AIDS Walk came and went by so quickly. On walk day, we ended up with an awesome 2-person team. NT and I had a great time. I am very grateful to my supporters who donated their energy (and $$) to this effort :D YATTA!*

I am slowly getting back to my crafty self. I made Team Aya.Duafe shirts for the team and we hot stepped it with the band.
